Speaker: Renaut van der Riet

“For the glory of God Alone.” All glory is due to God alone. The Westminster Shorter Catechism states, “Man’s chief end is to glorify God and to enjoy him forever.” All of life is to be lived for the glory of God.

QUESTIONS

  1. Renaut van der Riet said, “Salvation is a work of God and only God. There is glory to be given for this incredible work. It is not going to be a glory given to man in any way, shape, or form because all things are ultimately for the glory of God.” (Ephesians 2:1-9) How does God’s sovereignty in salvation affect your view of him?
  2. When you speak or act in a given circumstance, relationship, or handling of resources, you should strive to represent the realities of God, kingdom of God, and wonder of God. We are his ambassadors. This is about him, not us. (2 Cor 5:17-20). What are the areas in your life that you are strong in this regard, and which need work?
  3. When we fail to represent him as we should, he gives us the gift of repentance. Repentance gives him glory because it reveals our need for him. How does the fact that repentance brings God glory change your perception of repentance?
