No gospel-centered churches exist in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, and long-time Acts 29 church planter Philip Moore is excited about changing that in 2025.
Originally from Northern Ireland, Philip, along with his wife Rachel and their five children, moved to France in 2006. There, they spent 17 years planting churches in the eastern suburbs of Paris. Their efforts, supported by Acts 29, led to the establishment of four new churches that are thriving today!
In 2021, after the tragic loss of a close friend who had urged them to plant a new church in the city, Philip and Rachel felt a divine call to relocate into the heart of Paris. They officially settled in the 5th arrondissement in August 2023, believing it was where God wanted them to invest their lives.
France presents a unique challenge for evangelism, with less than 5% of the population attending any Christian worship on Sundays and only 1% identifying as evangelical. In the 5th arrondissement, there is an even greater need: a lack of gospel-centered churches serving the area despite its rich educational environment, home to prestigious institutions, and a vibrant student population of over 80,000.
The Moores aim to engage this student population, believing it is a strategic moment to introduce many young people to the gospel. They have laid the groundwork by building relationships, gathering a core team, and hosting small events to connect with locals.
With plans to officially launch in early 2025, Philip and Rachel are excited to share the beauty of the gospel and foster a community committed to truth, captivated by God’s love, and ready to serve their neighbors. Through this new church, they hope to see lives transformed and a lasting impact made in the heart of Paris.
