Driven by Mission

Perseverance for Mission

By on dezembro 1, 2024

At the very end of Acts, in 28:31, we see the apostle Paul in Rome, still boldly proclaiming the gospel “without hindrance.” This boldness and faithfulness to the end is an example for all of us. Even through all his suffering, Paul remained faithful to Christ, finishing his race well. That’s the challenge we face as ministers today.

It’s easy to get caught up in measuring success by numbers—attendance, baptisms, or how much money is in the bank. Those things matter, but they are all for naught if we don’t make it to the end.

Over the years, we’ve seen many pastors and leaders fail to reach the finish line as they surely set out to. We mourn for the failures and losses we’ve all seen, and simultaneously long to finish honorably and faithfully, following Paul’s example.

Longevity in ministry requires a commitment to obedience to Christ, regardless of visible outcomes. We must pursue holiness, be vigilant about our lives and doctrine, and keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. This is how we will finish well, despite inevitable struggles and setbacks.

Stay faithful, finish well, and trust that God will bring the growth.
