Nearly 1/2 of the world’s population — more than 3 billion people — live on less than $2.50 a day. More than 1.3 billion live in extreme poverty. Many poor communities totally lack gospel preaching churches, while pastors and church planters who do work in these neighborhoods often lack access to affordable and contextual training.
Acts 29 is at the front lines of seeing healthy churches planted and thriving in the world’s unreached hard places. We catalyze and support church planting in some of the biggest slums and favelas, among immigrant communities and displaced peoples, and in urban poor, inner city communities.
Church planting looks different in these places, where it’s hard to get a job, support your family, or access decent education and healthcare. How will these areas be reached with the gospel? Who will plant and lead healthy churches there?
If our poorest communities are going to be reached with the gospel, we need to change how we’re doing ministry to the poor. Developing Godly leaders, making disciples, planting churches, funding the work — these are just a few of the critical issues we must address if we want to see vibrant, gospel-preaching churches planted in these hard places.
Acts 29 produces innovative, practical, and relevant resources and provides accessible training opportunities to assist church leaders and church planters in poor contexts. We have also created a pathway to assessment within Acts 29 to help them integrate into their local Acts 29 network.
We believe that a local, gospel preaching church is the best mercy ministry we can provide. If your church desires to help the poor in your city, then plant a healthy church among them. Acts 29 can help assess, train, and support you as you seek to do so.
