Acts 29 has a rich history as a network. For twenty-five years, we have connected, built relationships, established trust, and learned from each other. Our relational connections have always been built on shared theology and ecclesiological convictions. As a result of this vast and diverse network, we have more and better churches across the world.
However, as valuable as these benefits of a network have been and continue to be, they have never been the final destination for Acts 29.
In the world of networks, Acts 29 is an “Action Network.” This means that while experiencing all of the personal and professional benefits of shared relationships, we are ultimately united around and committed to the action of planting churches worldwide. This commitment differentiates Acts 29 from a simple band of brothers or a theological think-tank. We are driven by the commitment to plant churches worldwide.
Everything we do ultimately points to this end goal. Our gatherings, relationships, and theological unity are not final destinations but unite us for the mission Jesus gave us in Matthew 28:18-20.
Visualizing Our Mission
One way to envision our mission is as an arrow in flight:
- Theological Alignment: Like the feathers that guide an arrow, our theological convictions keep us on course. Without sound doctrine, we cannot move accurately or effectively in the mission God has given us.
- Relational Collaboration: Just as an arrow needs a strong shaft to remain stable, meaningful relationships hold our mission together. We strengthen and sustain the work of planting churches through deep collaboration, mutual support, and partnerships.
- Church Planting: This is our point and purpose. Church planting is the tip that drives everything forward, cutting through barriers to advance the gospel worldwide.
A Call to Action
Our call to every Acts 29 church and leader is to richly value the network benefits of Acts 29 but to remember that our final destination is to be a network on mission. Our theological alignment and relationships are vital but act as fuel for our mission.
Let’s gather continually, lean in, support each other, and collaborate to plant churches worldwide. Whether you are just beginning with Acts 29 or have been part of the network for years, we invite you to savor the benefits of this network and remember that we are united around a common purpose.
We are not only a network. But a Network on Mission.
