Ken Banda is the pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Garneton, Zambia, with a population of around 15,000 people. Their community is mostly low-income, riddled with drug use and other issues brought on by poverty. Very few kids make it through high school, and the levels of unemployment are very high. 

Ken’s church is strategically positioned to reach the community. Nearly 70 percent of churchgoers are under 18, so they have a robust evangelism approach aimed toward children and their families. Every Saturday, they host games for kids and offer food—an opportunity for them to both tangibly serve the community and share the gospel. Ken and other ministry leaders go door-to-door a few times a month to share the gospel and invite people to church. Their presence in the community is a constant reminder for people that there is hope, and they know they can come to Faith Baptist Church to find it. Recently, Ken has seen two girls who were using drugs and living in the streets come to know Christ and will be baptized soon. They’ve also met with some young boys who had dropped out of school to sell drugs. They heard the gospel, believed in Jesus for the first time, were baptized, and will be returning to school soon.
